Cody R. Smith, P.E.

Project Manager / Fire Protection Engineer

Cody is an experienced fire protection engineer specializing in the delivery of fire protection reports, alternative methods & materials requests, engineering judgements, rational analysis reports, smoke control design criteria, egress/ life safety design drawings, code consulting, and sprinkler system & fire alarm system design. He has participated in the design and development of numerous high-rise, mid-rise and low-rise projects throughout the United States, including; large-scale resort hospitality, multi-family residential, corporate office, governmental and industrial developments. 

His primary role as a project manager is to support the preparation of fire protection reports, egress/ life safety drawings, alternate methods & materials submittals, and fire protection system design documentation. Additionally, Cody is keenly focused on the delivery of unique and cost-efficient fire protection engineering solutions resulting in millions of dollars in savings.

Cody began his fire protection engineering career working with his father, a sprinkler system design/ build contractor, by assisting sprinkler system design. As a result, it not only taught him the “nuts & bolts” of sprinkler system design, but also how to track and identify potential design issues and delays.

Since joining PCNA Group, Cody’s experience includes comprehensive code research, working closely with clients to identify code compliance issues and implementing unique and cost-effective fire protection engineering solutions. In early 2024, Cody received his California P.E. license in Fire Protection Engineering. Most recently, Cody served as an industry-voting delegate on the General Committee to adopt the 2024 IBC in Southern Nevada.
