Project responsibilities included; full code, fire protection and life safety engineering, smoke control system design, rational analysis, smoke control system drawings, egress design, and accessibility analysis for the addition of a new 2-story, 50-bed, Category 5 correctional ward. By providing several unique solutions to the design team, PCNA Group was able to provide value engineering opportunities that allowed the project to be delivered on time and within the proposed fiscal budget.
Project responsibilities included; full code, fire protection and life safety engineering, smoke control system design, preparation of smoke control system drawings, egress design, and full accessibility analysis for the multi-phased renovation of this existing, 12-story, high-rise, correctional facility project. Specific challenges included coordinating a complete renovation of all mechanical/smoke control systems while the facility remained partially occupied. This required PCNA Group to facilitate absolute coordination among the entire design team, the City of Las Vegas Building & Fire Departments, and Las Vegas Metro (facility operators). Project was delivered on time and within budget, while being occupied.
Project responsibilities included; forensic investigations of the sanitary vent and drain systems within the facility to identify areas of significant corrosion, damage, and other unknown issues that were contributing to dangerous gas odors within the courtrooms, detention areas, and public areas of this existing high-rise facility. Solutions for this included replacements to portions of existing vent pipe stacks, from cast-iron to plastic pipe, and the addition of building traps to prevent municipal sanitary gas from entering the building from existing service locations. This project was a significant code-related challenge as both plastic piping and sanitary building traps were not permitted within local City of Las Vegas code amendments. As a result, this project required several negotiations and Alternate Methods & Material Request submittals. This project was delivered on time and well below projected budget costs.
Project responsibilities included; project management of Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, and Civil engineering teams, code analysis, egress design, and design supervision and consulting services for the replacement of cooling towers, chillers, boilers, water heaters, and related controls & equipment to improve life-cycle and overall energy conservation for the facility.
Project responsibilities included; project management for A/E team for the NPWB project to include plan and profile for excavation, leak detection, upgrade recommendations and cost estimates, as well as Mechanical Engineering services for the $1.5M steam boiler system with 1000 ft of underground steam and condensate piping through the prison security area, replacement of cooling tower, DDC control upgrade, and improving water and chemical treatment systems.
